ISO is the global standard used worldwide (Europe, America, and Asia). Its goal is to make sure cylinders from different brands have the same size and mounting dimensions.
Benefit:If you buy an ISO cylinder, it is easy to replace your old one, no matter the brand.
VDMA is the German industrial standard. It was very popular in the early European market. Today, most VDMA standards have been upgraded to ISO standards.
VDMA 24562 = ISO 15552 (They are the same).
VDMA 24563 = ISO 6432 (They are the same).
VDMA 24561 (Compact Cylinder): This does not have an exact ISO equivalent yet.
JIS is the Japanese Industrial Standard. It is mainly used for the Japanese market and Japanese machinery (like SMC style). Its dimensions are different from European standards.
VDMA & ISO: They are usually interchangeable. You can replace VDMA with ISO.
