Tool Release Cylinder (TRC) Overview

The tool release cylinder is specially used for CNC machine spindles to release tools. This cylinder uses the principle of "equal pressure transmission in liquids," allowing a small air pressure to generate the large force needed to release the tool in the CNC spindle.The cylinder consists of: air cylinder, 5-way 2-position 4N310 solenoid valve, oil reservoir, and micro switches.

Tool Release Cylinder Installation Notes

For vertical spindles, fix the cylinder with a bracket and install it vertically above the spindle box.

For horizontal spindles, keep the oil cup vertical and higher than the cylinder body.

The oil cup must face up to allow air to escape from the cylinder.

Tool Release Cylinder Installation Steps

Turn off the machine power (panel and cabinet) and air supply.

Remove the spindle box cover. Disconnect air tubes from the solenoid valve.

Unscrew the plastic nut on the solenoid coil (do not remove wires unless properly marked).

Disconnect the wires from the top and bottom limit switches (mark carefully).

Remove the old cylinder.

Install the new cylinder and fix it with screws.

Reconnect wires and air tubes. Make sure:

The top limit switch is pressed.

The bottom limit switch is adjusted correctly (for machines with tool magazine, this is critical for safety).

After installation, test with a tool. Check tool release and clamp. For machines with a tool magazine, test tool change.

Tool Release Cylinder Usage Precautions

·Cylinder can be installed vertically or horizontally. For horizontal, oil cup must face up.

·Air supply must be clean and dry, pressure at least 6 kgf/cm².

·Oil level in the cup: minimum 1/5, maximum 4/5.

·Check 4N310 solenoid voltage and air pressure  during installation.
